How to Write a Letter to Santa

There are 4 things you need to do to write a special letter to Santa. I will tell you exactly what to do. The letter that you write to Santa will warm him up just like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold wintry night. Santa gets many letters from kids that probably sound rather greedy. Your letter will be different. He might even jump out of his recliner and trott over to Mrs. Claus and say, "Mrs. Claus, here's a wonderful letter I just opened from a kid who really has the Christmas Spirit! I can't wait for you to read it! Rudolph and I won't forget stop at this child's house!"

Can you picture that happening? I can, IF you follow the next four guidelines in writing your letter:

1. Get Mom or Dad interested in helping you write the letter to Santa. Ask one of them to be your secretary. Everything you tell them they can write down for you. It's wonderful have Mom or Dad as a secretary. Just use a sharp-pointed pencil and loose-leaf paper to write on. (If you' re old enough and want to do the letter without their help, that's okay too.)

2. I am sure you want to write a "special" letter to Santa. You don't want it to sound like most of the letters Santa receives, which are "I want... I want... I want... " Let Santa get to know you in your letter. Tell him what kind of a year you have had. What was the best thing that happened to you since last Christmas? Did you visit any special places? What was the nicest thing Mom or Dad recently said to you? Do you have any pets? In other words, tell Santa something fun about yourself.

3. Tell Santa something that you are very thankful for having or that happened this year. Then he will know that you are a grateful person.

4. After that, tell Santa a few of the things that you would really like for Christmas and how you would use those items.

If you do the above things in the letter that you write, your letter will be special. In other words, let Santa know something about you, what you care about and what you are already thankful for having. Then list some things that you would enjoy getting for Christmas this year.

Don't worry about spelling or printing too much. Santa is an expert at reading all kinds of Christmas letters. It's the thoughts that count with Santa.

Have a Merry Christmas, and mail early! If you do, you will be doing Santa a favor. He's very busy in December, but not too busy to enjoy your letter!
