Making a Difference this 4th of July
What a great time for celebration! As you begin this day with friends, family, and activities, how will you make this a day to be remembered? What will you do to touch the lives of others?
Whether you go on a picnic, watch or set off fireworks, or barbeque at home with friends and family, make this day one to be remembered! Interacting with, spending time with, and sharing with others will more than likely be the highlight of your day. As you go about your daily festivities, consider how you will listen, reach out to, and care for others just by being a great friend! By doing this, you will make this 4th of July one that will be important in history, not only for yourself, but for others.
The History of Our National Independence
Truly, when you consider the history of our country and where we began as a nation, it is amazing to consider both the changes that have taken place over the years and the sacrifice of others to preserve this nation. I am referring mainly to our founding fathers and what they sacrificed in life to work together for the vision of what this nation could be. When we consider this concept of what a nation can and should be, especially one with such amazing beginnings, we may just sit in awe and thankfulness of the concept, sacrifice, and miracle that we became a nation!
And yet, as you look at society around you, you wonder how much others know of, care about, or value what has been accomplished in history. We so easily forget, and for some of us, we were never even aware of what has occurred in history. Still, as we truly understand our past, we can then look forward to the future, knowing both who we are and what we can do to affect the world!
Gaining Global Perspective on Independence
It is from our great history that we can ponder the history and culture of other nations, wondering at what has occurred in their history, how that history interacts with ours, and how diverse the world is. It is from these contemplations that we have the opportunity to change our perspective, understand the world in which others live, and begin to connect with others around the world. Doing so will change and enrich your life forever. Who has the opportunity and the courage to move outside of your own reality and connect with that of others?
As you celebrate through activities, with family, and an understanding of our history, open yourself to the possibilities of viewing the world through the eyes of others! This will broaden not only your perspective, but also stretch your ability to be compassionate during this awe-inspiring Fourth of July!
